Common faults of gas water heaters
Fault 1: stalling during use
If the engine stalls during use, the following procedures can be followed for inspection:
a. Check if all the gas valves are not open. If not, it is necessary to open all the gas valves.
b. After opening, the hot water can be continuously turned on and off for heating until it catches fire. Because the gas pressure is not suitable, too low can also cause stalling during use.
Tip: The process of turning on and off the hot water switch requires waiting for more than 5 seconds before it can be turned on again.
c. Ask professional maintenance personnel to check the water pressure, as the cause of the malfunction may be that the water pressure of the cold water supply is too low. If the starting water pressure is greater than 0.035MP, the water volume control screw under the gas valve body should be adjusted to reduce the water output.
d. In addition to the above items, it is also necessary to ask maintenance personnel to clean the carbon deposits inside the heat exchanger. If the water controller or pulse generator malfunctions, please ask maintenance personnel to handle and replace it. It is also necessary to check whether the leads are loose, whether the solenoid valve and flame probe are faulty, which are all possible reasons for stalling during use.
Fault 2: The water heater cannot start
When this situation occurs, the handling method is somewhat similar to that of Fault 1. Below, we will briefly explain the methods for handling this situation.
a. Open all valves
b. There may be air inside the gas pipe, and the hot water switch should be continuously turned on and off until it catches fire to expel the air.
c. Check the main cold water supply valve and open it.
d. Check if the water pipe has frozen. If it has frozen, it needs to wait until it melts before use.
e. The water pressure of the cold water supply is too low, check the water pressure. If there are no issues with these, check the power supply to see if the contact is complete, or if some are using dry batteries and the battery is dead. If it is dead, replace the battery.
f. In addition, there are also issues with water controllers, pulsers, leads, microswitches, solenoid valves, and battery polarity reversal.
Fault 3: Yellow flame with smoke appearing
Fault cause: blockage in the burner or heat exchanger
Treatment method: Maintenance personnel are required to clean the debris inside the burner and the carbon deposits inside the heat exchanger.
Fault 4: Abnormal flame with odor
Fault cause:
1. Insufficient fresh air supply.
