Ten common faults of electric water heaters
Fault 1: During the heating process of the water heater, there are water droplets dripping from the small hole of the safety valve. This is the most common phenomenon.
Reason for water dripping: Due to the closed storage type of electric water heater, during the heating or insulation process, the water pressure inside the water heater is greater than 6Mpa, causing the one-way safety valve to overflow and drip water droplets.
Solution: Close the inlet valve and adjust the mixing valve knob to a high temperature to avoid water leakage from the one-way safety valve, allowing water to drip out of the shower. If a mixing valve is not installed, the hot water outlet ball valve can be opened slightly to relieve pressure and flow water, which can also avoid leakage of the one-way safety valve.
Fault 2: The hot water in the water heater has a short usage time.
Reason analysis: Due to the short heating time of the water heater and uneven water temperature in the upper and lower layers during the first use of the water heater (or some cases where the water heater has not been used and has been reused), the amount of heat produced is low.
Solution: Work continuously with the water heater for more than 12 hours to ensure that the water temperature inside the heater is evenly distributed.
Fault 3: Electric leakage during use of the water heater. This is a very serious malfunction that requires frequent attention.
Reason: ① Improper adjustment of the wind pressure switch. ② Inappropriate suction nozzle position. ③ The silicone tube falls off or cracks, causing air leakage and pressure loss, which cannot push the air film. ④ The wind pressure switch is malfunctioning. ⑤ Pulse generator malfunction.
Solution: ① Adjust the air pressure switch to the appropriate position. ② Adjust the suction nozzle. ③ Insert or replace the silicone hose. ④ Replace the air pressure switch. ⑤ Replace the pulse generator.
Fault 4: The heating indicator light is on, but it cannot be heated.
Cause analysis: ① Poor contact or broken wire at the plug end of the heating tube. ② The heating tube is burnt out.
Solution: ① Check and eliminate. ② Replace the heating tube.
Fault 5: The heating indicator light is not on and cannot be heated.
Reason analysis: ① Poor contact or broken wire at the connector end of the temperature controller. ② Temperature controller burnt out
Solution: ① Check and eliminate. ② Replace the temperature controller.
Fault 6: The indicator light of the water heater remains on.
Reason analysis: ① There are few contact points between the temperature sensing surface of the temperature controller and the flange surface of the electric heating tube. ② The temperature controller is faulty.
Solution: ① Reinstall the temperature controller to make contact with the temperature sensing surface. ② Replace the temperature controller.
Fault 7: During use, the leakage protection plug automatically loses power (regularly trips). Pressing the reset button can reset and restore power supply.
Reason analysis: 1. It is usually caused by poor contact of the socket and abnormal high temperature rise. 2. Lightning, lightning strikes, or adjacent electrical leakage to the ground can cause instantaneous current to trigger the action of the leakage protection plug in the grounding wire.
Solution: 1. Replace with a high-quality socket (choose a socket with a high pulling force and a tight bite when the plug is inserted). 2. Check the several copper pins of the leakage protection plug. If they have turned black, wipe off the oxide layer with fine sandpaper. If the pins are deformed, they should be corrected. The three copper pins should be kept perpendicular to the bottom and not bent.
Fault 8: The water outlet is not hot
Reason analysis: 1. Improper adjustment of cold and hot water 2. The power supply is not connected; 3. The electric heater is damaged; 4. The temperature controller is damaged.
Solution: 1. Adjust the opening of the cold and hot water mixing valve appropriately; 2. Adjust the power plug or switch to ensure good contact; 3. Replace the electric heater; 4. Repair or replace the temperature controller.
Fault 9: The outlet water temperature is too high
Reason analysis: 1. Improper adjustment of cold and hot water; 2. Improper adjustment of the temperature controller knob or sticking contacts.
Solution: 1. Adjust the opening of the cold and hot water mixing valve appropriately; 2. Adjust the thermostat first, then repair the contacts, and replace the thermostat if necessary.
Fault 10: Difficulty in water inlet or outlet
Cause analysis: 1. Dirty blockage. Mainly due to poor water quality of tap water, excessive impurities, and blockage of the check valve at the water inlet. The electric water heater with an inlet filter is due to the blockage of the filter hole; 2. Steam blockage; 3. Abnormal water supply pressure; 4. The mixing valve is faulty.
Solution: 1. After confirming that the water pressure is normal, clean the pipeline, impact dirt or clean the filter screen; 2. Adjust the thermostat to the minimum position or cut off the power supply, discharge steam, inspect the dirty and clogged areas of the thermostat and hot water valve, and adjust and clean them; 3. After the water pressure is normal, the fault will disappear on its own; 4. Repair or replace the mixing valve.
